St. Paul Historic American Buildings Survey Collection
Under the authority of the 1935 Historic Sites Act (see Document Library) and the 1966 National Historic Preservation Act, as amended in 1980, the Historic American Buildings Survey assists in the preservation of significant resources by recording historic buildings and transmitting the documentation to an archive at the Library of Congress. In 2004, the Department of the Interior, National Park Service, and the Department of Commerce, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration entered an agreement under which the National Park Service recorded (i.e., photographed and drew) structures contributing to the St. Paul Island subunits of the Seal Islands National Historic Landmark. These photographs and drawings are included in this collection. Original negatives and prints are retained by the Library of Congress.
